HQU has two campuses, one in Xiamen, a seaside city awarded the “UN Habitat Scroll of Honor Award”, the other in Quanzhou, the “Culture City of East Asia” and one of China’s first historical and cultural cities.
HQU offers 11 discipline categories including Economics, Management, Science, Engineering, Arts, Medicine, Education, etc.
HQU has 41 state or provincial key disciplines, among which Engineering and Chemistry have entered the top 5‰ of the ESI world rankings; and Material Science, Computer Science and Technology, are in the top 1% of the ESI world ranking.
Among undergraduate programs, there are 35 national level ones and 17 provincial level ones. In addition, 22 programs have got international and domestic professional accreditation.
HQU has signed cooperation agreements with more than 280 universities, research institutes and government departments in 44 countries and regions on five continents.
HQU is one of the earliest universities in Mainland of China that recruit overseas students and one of the universities in Mainland of China that recruit the largest number of overseas students.

Introduction to Huaqiao University
Established in 1960, HQU is situated in Xiamen and Quanzhou, Fujian province, P.R.C.
Dedicated to recruiting students from abroad, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, HQU aims to serve the overseas Chinese and spread Chinese culture, committing itself to the school principle of Integration of Chinese Wisdom and Foreign Expertise, Unification of Moral Character and Professional Excellence. I. Eligibility
International applicants (hold passports of foreign countries and shall not have Chinese nationality at the same time) should be no more than 22 years old, with a senior high school diploma or an equivalent, in good physical and mental health, with good behavior and clean criminal record.

Notes:
1. Pre-university Programs:
There are Liberal Arts and Science classes, focusing on consolidating and improving the knowledge of high school. Students who complete their studies and pass the comprehensive assessment can be directly admitted to HQU for undergraduate programs.
2. Chinese Preparatory Programs:
Students whose Chinese proficiency does not meet the admission requirements for undergraduate programs will first attend Chinese Preparatory Programs according to the “Chinese + Major” programs. Through one academic year of intensive learning, students will comprehensively improve their Chinese proficiency, professional knowledge and cross-cultural communication skills and get admitted into the undergraduate programs after graduation.
3. Extra technical tests are not arranged for applicants choosing the technical programs (including Musicology, Dancology, Physical Education, Fine Arts and Design Science), but applicants should possess the relevant skills.
4. The programs listed in the table are the recommended ones for international students. HQU will adjust the programs according to relevant policies and the actual enrollment situation of the year.
Ways of Admission
I. Non-examination for International Students
International students holding overseas high school diplomas can submit personal application materials through the online registration system (https://admissions.hqu.edu.cn/), and those who meet the requirements will be admitted after review.
Application deadline: July 1st, 2023, those who fail to provide complete materials within the specified time will be regarded as giving up their application qualifications.
Requirements for documents are as followed:
(1) Complete personal information and valid contact information;
(2) Passport ID page and one-inch color photo (passport validity should be on or after October 2024);
(3) Certified or authenticated high school or above diploma, annual academic transcripts of high school; if graduation certificates and transcripts are in English, please attach official translations which are authenticated;
(4) Transcripts and corresponding translations of high school graduation examinations or UEC/A Level/AP/IB/SAT/ACT for reference;
(5) HSK Certificate;
(6) Recommendation letter by applicants’ high schools, overseas Chinese groups or communities, renowned overseas Chinese leaders, or overseas admission offices of HQU in the local countries;
(7) Physical examination materials in recent six months;
(8) In accordance with Chinese Ministry of Education’s Regulations on Recruiting International Students for Higher Institutions, any applicant who has immigrated from China (including the Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan) to foreign countries should submit (a) Chinese nationality cancellation certificate; (b) Certificate of foreign nationality; (c) Entry and exit records for the latest 4 years (till April 30th, 2023) issued by the entry and exit administration offices; any applicant who has acquired foreign nationality at birth because one or both of his/her parents are Chinese nationals settling abroad, should submit (a) Certificate of foreign nationality at birth; (b) Proof of permanent residence of his/her parents (Chinese citizens) in the foreign country before the applicant’s birth; (c) Entry and exit records for the latest 4 years (till April 30th, 2023) issued by the entry and exit administration offices.
II. Entrance Examination for International Students
International students can take part in the Joint International Admissions Examination by Jinan University and Huaqiao University for Hongkong, Macao, Taiwan,Overseas Chinese Students and Foreign Students. Please log on https: //lxlz.jnu.edu.cn/ to submit the application for examination.
The application time for the examination is in March while the examination is taken in May.
Ⅲ. Application procedures
(1) HQU will review the application materials of students and provide feedback on the registration system. For admitted students, please download the “Admission Notice” from the registration system.
(2) HQU issues Admission Notice, JW202 Form and other materials to admitted students.
(3) International students should apply for X1 visa at Chinese embassies and consulates in local countries with the Admission Notice and JW202 Form.
(4) Students should register at the time specified in the Admission Notice.

1. Tuition fees are credit-based for undergraduate programs;
2. Students of English-Instructed Programs pay the tuition and accommodation fees during their study in British/American universities according to the regulations of British/American universities which also offer students certain scholarships.
