The 9th Chinese Language Workshop for Thai Senators concluded recently. 24 senators, 9 experts and staff have attended the two-month training program, jointly hosted by the Confucius Institute at Kasetsart University (KU) and the Secretariat of the Thai Senate.
The Confucius Institute at KU has tailored the teaching materials to meet learners’ needs and add practicality and zest to the curriculum. They included speeches, cooperation and blessings in the conversational topics, and designed simulation scenarios of receptions and visits. The senators surveyed are satisfied with the course design and teaching. They also hope they could have more class hours and learn Chinese cultural classics such as Confucian classics.
Activities are also held for the trainees to experience Chinese culture. With the assistance of teachers of Confucius Institute and staff of the Secretariat, the senators practiced Chinese calligraphy, painted Chinese Flower-and-Bird paintings, and observed the Chinese tea art performance.
The Confucius Institute at KU is jointly constructed by Huaqiao University (HQU) and KU. The language program, launched in 2017, has long been cared and supported by the Thai Senate, HQU and KU. It has facilitated the communication between high-level officials of China and Thailand, promoted people-to-people exchanges, and strengthened the close bond between the two countries.
