Release time:2024-03-21      Author:

On the morning of Mar. 19, Lin Hongyu, Vice President of Huaqiao University (HQU) received a visiting delegation led by Co Kin Hung, Vice President of Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce & Industry. Inc. (FFCCII). Leaders from HQU International Chinese Language Education Office, Office of International Exchange and Cooperation, Admissions Office and the teaching supervision group for Chinese language volunteer teachers in the Philippines attended the meeting.

Lin welcomed their visit, and briefed on the diversified cooperation and exchanges between HQU and the Philippines. He praised the Chinese education programs jointly held by the federation and HQU, and expected deeper understanding and further cooperation of the two sides. He hoped that by exploring multiple education models, more Filipino youths could study in China, and more opportunities and resources could be provided to Filipino-Chinese youths, entrepreneurs and local Chinese teachers, and that these trained cross-cultural talents will make contributions to China-Philippines economic and trade contacts and people-to-people cultural exchanges.

Co thanked HQU for providing support and assistance to the Chinese education in the Philippines over the years. He hoped that HQU and FFCCII could cooperate further on the joint training of personnel in expertise such as intelligent manufacturing and new energy development, and the further education of Chinese teachers. He also expected the two sides could work together to help Filipino-Chinese youths to know more about China and Filipino-Chinese to achieve high-quality development.

In view of the cooperation in sending Chinese language volunteer teachers to the Philippines, the two sides discussed the fulfillment of a tripartite agreement signed in Beijing last year by Center for Language Education and Cooperation, FFCCII and HQU, particularly on the issues including volunteers’ annual performance evaluation and teaching assessment methods, standardization of teaching materials, the running of teaching seminars and the improvement of volunteers’ living conditions in the Philippines.

They also reached some agreements on specific enrollment programs, joint degree programs and entrepreneurship training.
