On the afternoon of February 28th, Huaqiao University (HQU) signed a Strategic Cooperation Agreement with the Sino United Publishing (Holdings) Limited (SUP) and the Straits Publishing and Distributing Group (SPDG).
The three parties will develop deep cooperation in such fields as talent cultivation, integration between industry and education, cultural communication, and book publishing. They will jointly build a scholarly campus, organize reading activities, promote the transformation of academic achievements, set up practice bases for Hong Kong students, and launch cultural study programs, so as to realize shared and win-win development. They hope these moves will push forward the cooperation in education, culture, as well as publishing and media industry between Fujian and Hong Kong to a higher level.
HQU President Wu Jianping, SUP Chairman Fu Weizhong, and SPDG Chairman Huang Weizhou signed the agreement on behalf of the three parties. Wan Anlun, HQU Vice President, presided over the signing ceremony.
At the signing ceremony, SPDG and SUP both donated 800 thematic books to Huaqiao University. Besides, Huaqiao University awarded them plaques of “HQU Student Internship and Employment Base” and “HQU Postgraduates Workstation”.
On the same day, Huaqiao University also held humanistic literacy lectures themed on “Reading Chinese Classics”. Fu Weizhong, SUP Chairman, Lu Di, Professor of the School of Journalism and Communication of Peking University, and Lam Tianxing, Chairman of Hong Kong Artists Association, delivered speeches titled “Literary Atmosphere in Hong Kong”, “Reading Classics and Spreading Chinese Culture Overseas”, and “On Colourful Ink-Image and Artistic Conception of Traditional Chinese Paintings and Modern Ink and Wash Paintings (Colourful Ink)”.
Xu Zhiyong and Wang Jianhua, HQU Vice Presidents, Zhao Dongxiao, SUP Vice President, Xie Xingquan, Deputy General Manager of SPDG, and Zou Wenjie, General Manager of SPDG Xiamen Office, attended relevant activities.
