HQU Research Group Publishes Paper in Nature Photonics

Release time:2024-01-31      Author:

On Jan 29, Associate Prof. Tian Chengbo and Prof. Wei Zhanhua from Institute of Luminescent Materials and Information Displays and College of Materials Science & Engineering of Huaqiao University (HQU), published online their latest research on tin-based perovskite solar cells in Nature Photonics. With the latest impact factor of 39.728, it is a leading journal in OPTICS-SCIE, and published by the Nature Publishing Group. The paper titled “Efficient tin-based perovskite solar cells with trans-isomeric fulleropyrrolidine additives” signifies the first publication by HQU in Nature Photonics.

Grounded in the findings of prior related research (Adv. Mater., 2023, 25, 2205603; J. Am.Chem.Soc., 2023, DOI:10.1021/jacs.3c10515; Energy Environ. Mater., 2022, e12529; Adv. Funct. Mater., 2022, 32, 2110139; Sci. Bull., 2021, 66, 339), the team of Assoc Prof. Tian Chengbo and Prof. Wei Zhanhua synthesized two pyridyl-substituted fulleropyrrolidines (PPF) with cis (CPPF) and trans (TPPF) configurations, proposed the fullerene coordination chemistry strategy to finely control the crystallization kinetics of tin-based perovskite. The TPPF improves the interface energy level alignment and suppresses Sn2+ oxidation. The results indicate that the TPPF-based TPSCs exhibited a high power conversion efficiency of 15.38% (certified 15.14%). This is currently the first certified perovskite solar cells delivering a power conversion efficiency exceeding 15%, demonstrating exceptional stability.

The first author of the paper is a first-year doctoral student Chen Jingfu and the corresponding authors are Assoc Prof. Tian Chengbo and Prof. Wei Zhanhua, with HQU as their corresponding affiliation. The research was sponsored by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Natural Science Foundation of Fujian Province and the Research Foundation of Huaqiao University.
