On Oct 25, the award ceremony of the 5th “My China Story” International Short Video Competition, hosted by China International Communications Group (CICG) and the Information Office of the Henan Provincial People’s Government, was held in Zhengzhou, Henan province. Three original short videos, Foreign Students Walk into the Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival, Reading Chinese Civilization from the Central Plains - International Students Explore Henan Museum, and the International Youth Hani Rice Terrace Tour,created by Voice of Overseas Students, the new media studio of Huaqiao University (HQU) won the Best New Artist Award. HQU got the Outstanding Organization Award.
Gao Anming, the vice president of CICG, delivered a speech at the award ceremony. He encouraged the award-winning teams to play more important roles in presenting the long history of Chinese civilization, introducing the profound Chinese culture, and experiencing the vitality and bright future of Chinese-style modernization.
When receiving the award,a HQU international student from South Africa, whose Chinese name is Huang Meigui, shared her feelings on stage, “as a news anchor of HQU new media studio, I feel so delighted to share China’s stories, Chinese culture, and China’s voice with the world through short videos. I hope more and more overseas friends can come to China and to gain a deeper understanding of China as it really is.”
Aiming to attract the third-party perspective creators, “My China Story” has developed into a well-known international communication brand integrating multilingual short video creation, a topic-of-the-year competition, a special topic competition, a new media international communication seminar, and a themed movie screening. This year’s competition received about 57,000 short videos from more than 80 countries, including China, the United Kingdom, the United States, and France. After three rounds of evaluation by 26 professional judges in the fields of film and television, international communication, and the Internet, over 90 works received awards, including 36 unit awards, 7 individual awards, 1 jury grand prize, and more than 50 excellent awards.
