A paper authored by Professor Xie Chaowu and Dr. Zhang Jiangchi from the College of Tourism of Huaqiao University (HQU) was included in the Essential Science Indicators (ESI) database as highly cited paper in August 2022. The paper titled “Responding to a major global crisis: The effects of hotel safety leadership on employee safety behavior during COVID-19” was published inInternational Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Managementin August 2020.

ESI highly cited papers are those that rank in the top 1% by citations for field. ESI has become an important indicator used to evaluate the academic level and influence of universities, academic institutions and countries/regions.

Dr. Zhang Jiangchifrom College of Tourism is the first author of the paper, and Professor Xie Chaowu, also from the College of Tourism, is the corresponding author. College of Tourism of HQU is the first andcorresponding affiliation.
