Sara Duterte, VP of the Philippines, replies to HQU

Sara Duterte, the newly elected vice president of the Philippines, replied to Huaqiao University (HQU), thanking for its support of the education in Davao City, Philippines, and extending good wishes to the teachers and students of HQU. Sarah Duterte said that the education has always been one of the great concerns in Davao City. The educational cooperation between countries can not only promote cultural exchanges and deepen friendship, but also stimulate students’ enthusiasm for learning. She hoped that she could continue to bolster academic cooperation and friendship between the Philippines and China after taking office.


On behalf of HQU, President Wu Jianping congratulated Sarah Duterte on her successful election as vice president of the Philippines earlier. Wu thanked Sarah for her support in promoting cultural exchanges and communications between HQU and people from all walks of life in the Philippines, especially in facilitating the Chinese language training program for government officials jointly held by HQU and Davao municipal government, as well as the construction of the Confucius Institute.


Sarah Duterte, then mayor of Davao City, witnessed the signing of the Confucius Institute jointly established by HQU and Ateneo de Davao University, and sent a congrats video to Davao municipal government on the opening of the Chinese language training course.
