On April 21^st, Wang Jianhua, Vice President of Huaqiao University (HQU) received on Xiamen Campus a delegation led by Ms. Oblena, the consul general of the Philippine Consulate General in Xiamen.

Wang welcomed the delegation on behalf of the university and briefed them on the exchanges and cooperations between HQU and the Philippines.

He said that HQU has maintained close exchanges and profound friendship with the Philippines. Various cooperations have been carried out in co-construction of Confucius Institutes, cooperative enrollment, teacher training and undergraduate education. Currently, HQU is home to more than 200 Philippine students and government officials attending the Chinese language classes.

He expressed the hope that the Consulate General of the Philippines in Xiamen will continue to play a matchmaking role in sustained cooperation between the two sides and make greater contribution to the in-depth development of China-Philippines friendly relations.

Ms. Oblena acknowledged the outstanding contributions made by HQU to the strengthening of Philippine-China ties and thanked HQU for training and assisting Philippine students at HQU and government officials in Chinese language classes.

She said that the Consulate General will continue to support the Philippines in its exchanges with Fujian, especially with Xiamen and Huaqiao University. She hoped that HQU and the Consulate General could maintain good relations and jointly promote all-round exchanges and cooperation between both sides.

The officials from Xiamen Municipal People’s Government Foreign Affairs Office, the leaders from the unviersity’s International Exchange and Cooperation Office, College of Chinese Language and Culture, College of Preparatory Education and Philippine Representative Office, and some Philippine students attended the meeting.
