HQU Intl Students Invited to the Event“Fujian in International Students’Eyes”

Recently, the anchors from HQU’s new media studio “Voice of Overseas Students”, some international students from South Africa, Ireland, Estonia and other 10 countries, have been invited to the event “Fujian in International Students’ Eyes”, organized by Foreign Affairs Office of the Fujian Provincial People’s Government. They also participated in the shooting of the documentary40thAnniversary Fujian Foreign Affairs.


In Xiamen, when strolling along Yundang Lake, the international students listened to the story of environmental protection of the lake to know about the practice of President Xi Jinping’s ecological civilization thought in Xiamen. They visited the main venue of the 9thBRICS summit and the exhibition hall of BRICS PartNIR Innovation Center to know about the construction of the Center. They also paid visits to high-tech enterprises such as San’an Optoelectronics and Unisound, and tried products like AI chips and intelligent voice, to know about the application of artificial intelligence and other high technologies in various fields.


In Quanzhou, the students watched traditional culture shows of southern Fujian, such as Gaojia Opera, Liyuan Opera and Nanyin music, and played glove puppets and marionettes to feel the charm of Chinese intangible cultural heritage. They learned to practice Wuzuquan at the South Shaolin Temple to experience the traditional Chinese martial arts culture and Shaolin culture. They also learned to make Quanzhou tin sculptures to improve their understanding of the Chinese traditional skills and craftsman spirit.


It is worth mentioning that the whole learning experience was filmed by the international students themselves as a series of short videos titled “My experiences with intangible cultural heritages in China”. The videos were then retweeted by the official Twitter account of thePeople’s Daily, inviting more foreign friends to feel the charm of China’s intangible cultural heritage.
