ARCASIA Students’ Architectural Design Competition 2021 has just announced its winners.The Sharing Corridorby Hu Shuhua from Architecture Class of 2023, Huaqiao University (HQU), won the Bronze Award. This is the only Chinese work awarded in the competition, and it is also the first time that HQU has won a prize in this competition.

The ARCASIA Students’ Architectural Design Competition aims to provide a platform of communication and mutual-learning for students from ARCASIA member countries, so that students with different cultural backgrounds can share various design ideas and methods. The 2021 edition was sponsored by the Architects Regional Council Asia (ARCASIA) and undertaken by the Architectural Society of China and ARCASIA Committee of Architecture Education. Altogether 6 awards were announced, including one Gold Award, one Silver Award and three Bronze Awards.

The Sharing Corridoris a maker center created under the concept of green energy-saving buildings. The designer intersperses the shared space among buildings and connects those buildings with an undulating sharing corridor, so that a rich and varied public corridor is formed for surrounding residents. The corridor is placed as a transitional space to separate the upper and lower floors, reducing the interaction. The corridor space is also interspersed with green landscape, cafes, leisure and entertainment space to attract residents, office staff and visitors, enriching their leisure life.
