On September 24^th, Huaqiao University (HQU) started the graduate class of Master of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (MTCSOL) of Grade 2021 in Brazil. This is the first graduate class for Chinese language teachers held by HQU in South America. The eight students in this class are principals or key teachers of Chinese schools who are engaged in Chinese education in Brazil, Chile, Panama and other countries.

At the opening ceremony, Vice President Zeng Lu of HQU introduced the mission and characteristics of HQU and welcomed the participants for being a member of HQU. He encouraged them to study diligently so as to contribute to promoting language and cultural exchanges between China and their host countries in the future.

Li Xiaoming, Overseas Chinese Consul of Consulate-General of the People's Republic of China in Sao Paulo, thanked HQU for taking advantage of being a university for overseas Chinese to support the development of Chinese education in Brazil. He said that the opening of MTCSOL class could strongly promote the quality of Chinese language teachers in Brazil, as well as in other countries of Central and South America.

On behalf of all the students, Wei Wangu, Principal of Dexin Bilingual School in Brazil said that he would cherish this opportunity and strive to improve himself on professional studies and try to be an excellent student of HQU.

The heads of Graduate School and Chinese Language and Culture College of HQU and the representative teachers and all students of the graduate class attended the opening ceremony.
