On the morning of July 19^th, President of China News Service (CNS) Chen Lujun and his delegation visited Huaqiao University (HQU) and had a meetingforfurther exchange and cooperationwith HQU.

The meeting was held in the conference roomatTan Kah Kee Memorial Hall. Xu Xipeng, Party Secretary of HQU, welcomed Mr. Chen and his delegation, and expressed his gratitude to CNS and its Fujian Branch and QuanzhouSub-branch for their long-term support to HQU.He shared that CNS is astate-levelnews agencyspreading news world-wide,mainly to subscribersfrom Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan,as well as overseas Chineseand foreigners with ties to China.The CNS’s visit has helped withqueriesand offered recommendations onthe internationalpublicityofHQU and will guide and promote other work related.

Chen Lujun made a brief introduction to the overall situation of CNS from the perspectives of its start-up concept, development history, overall scale, as well as its products, businesses, and platforms. He illustrated the “CNSstyle” featuringseeking truth from facts, and emphatically analyzed the difficulties and challenges faced in information technology, international communication and so on. He pointed out that to achieve intercultural and cross-ideological communication in the international society,scientific dimension should be added tothecontentof news, and CNS is currently tryingin that direction.

At the meeting, HQU vice-president Wang Xiuyong communicated with the delegation about thetrainingof media talent and thetopic selectionandplanningofinternationalpublicity. The directorsand teachersofthe HQUCPC publicity department, Social Sciences Research & Management Division, College of International Relations,andSchool of Journalism & Communication did reportson the works and plans ofinternational publicity, think tank construction, disciplinary development and the building of student teams. They also put forward suggestions for the cooperation betweenthetwo parties.

CNS office director Yang Yanfang, CNS Fujian branch president Xu Dejin and vice-president Zeng Fuzhi, directorsand teachersof the Party committee office/president’s office, College of Humanities, School of Philosophy and Social Development, Chinese Language and Culture College, Maritime Silk Road Institute,andInstitute of Chinese Culture and World Civilization attended the meeting.

During the visit, Chen and his delegation also visited the HQUSchool Archives.

The exchanges and cooperation between HQU and CNS had a long history.From the founding of HQU to the various periods of its construction, reconstructionand development, CNS has providedextensivesupport for the publicity and the retention of video materials of the university.In addition, CNS Fujian Branchhasactively participatedin the education of the journalism and communicationmajors.In 2016, the university signed a contract with the Branch to jointly build “the Practice Teaching BaseforJournalism and CommunicationMajorsof HQU”.
