On the morning of May 27th, Ho Iat Seng, Chief Executive of Macao SAR received a delegation led by Wu Jianping, President of Huaqiao University (HQU) at Macao SAR Government Headquarters. The two sides have exchanged views on personnel training and higher education cooperation.
Ho Iat Seng expressed his gratitude to HQU for its contributions to the talent cultivation of Macao over the years. He hoped that the two sides will strengthen their existing ties in more dimensions, and that HQU can help train IT professionals and provide off-the-job training to Macao government officials. He remarked that Macao aims to take advantage of China’s “14th Five-Year Plan” and the flourishing Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and produces more qualified personnel to meet the needs of social development and economic diversity in Macao. Ho then expected Macao and HQU to strengthen their cooperation, especially on intelligent manufacturing, to produce more talents for Macao and contribute to the development of the country.
Wu Jianping briefed Ho on recent developments of HQU and its medium- and long-term goals. He said that the university will continue to enroll more Macao students, providing them with better living and learning conditions at HQU and offering them schooling consultation. Wu said that HQU will stick to the guidelines of “conducting frontier research, serving society and educating students”, telling China’s Story and promoting Chinese culture with the help of overseas Chinese, so as to produce more personnel who hold special affection for their hometown and country.
Ao Ieong U, Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture of Macao SAR, Hoi Lai Fong, CE Chief-of-Office of the Macao SAR, and heads from HQU’s Office of Board of Directors, Office of Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Overseas Chinese Affairs and Liaison Office in Macao also attended the meeting.
