On May 15^th, 252 excellent young scholars from famous universities at home and abroad, including Cornell University,University of Toronto,Imperial College London,Free University of Berlin,andUniversity of Tokyo attended Huaqiao University (HQU)2021International Young Scholars Cloud Forum .

The forum aims to showcase HQU development and achievements to the world, build a platform for academic exchange, and attract young and top talent to join the diverse and dynamic faculty of HQU.

The forum consists of a main forum and several sub-forums.Xu Xipeng, Party Secretary of HQU, and Wu Jianping, President of HQU, attended the main forum hosted by Wang Lixia, Vice President of HQU.

On behalf of the university, Xu extended a sincere welcome to all the participants. He said that HQU would pursue a more proactive and open talent policy to make continuous efforts to value, respect, and retain people of high calibre. This in turn would bring more top scholars and add significant academic elements to the university. Xu stressed that with a strong industry-driven research base, HQU would innovate the model for talent cultivation, improve the support mechanism for talent nurturing, and refine the management for scientific research funds, to help more young scholars succeed.

Giving a brief introduction of HQU, Wu said that HQU has always been fostering a positive environment for young scholars and it stands ready to set the stage for them to put their talents to good use with preferential policies and great service.

The heads from Human Resources Development Department of Xiamen Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau and HQU Personnel Department presented favourable talent policies and talent development plans at Xiamen and HQU respectively. Then Professor Wei Zhanhua and Dr. Sun Yini, as representatives of young teachers, shared the stories of their own career development and life at HQU.

At the sub-forums, the heads of relevant colleges delivered presentations on the development of their colleges, and held discussions with young scholars on issues in related fields.

During China’s 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025), HQU is accelerating the implementation of the talent-driven development strategy, and expanding publicity channels like cloud forums to gather and bring in outstanding young scholars from home and abroad.
