On May 8^th, faculty, students and staff of Huaqiao University (HQU) on Quanzhou campus started receiving COVID-19 vaccines in batches on the principle of "informed, voluntary and free". More than 10,000 people on Quanzhou campus are expected to get vaccinated in the following three days from 8th to 10th.

At the temporary vaccination site in Linshuzhen Gymnasium, there were seven work areas for off-site waiting, temperature measurement, health inquiry, information registration and verification, vaccination, observation, and stamp confirmation respectively. HQUers entered the vaccination venue at different times, and got vaccinated in an orderly manner as directed.

Before the vaccination, the medical staff enquired in detail about the physical conditions of every one, checked their information carefully and informed them of the precautions for vaccination.

The COVID-19 vaccination was jointly undertaken by the community healthcare center and the school hospital. They sent health care professionals to audit the registration and administer the vaccine to ensure safe vaccination for faculty and students. The head of HQU hospital reminded that those who have received vaccination should keep the injection site hygiene for 24 hours, get plenty of rest, and avoid poor diet and alcohol.

In addition, an emergency treatment area and a refreshment area were set up in case of possible side effect or adverse reaction after vaccination. Staff from Quanzhou city 120 Urgent Care Center and HQU's logistics and security departments, and student volunteers were also present throughout the whole vaccination process to ensure safety, order and efficiency.

During the vaccination, Peng Pei, Vice President of HQU and Deputy Leader of the HQU COVID-19 Epidemic Prevention and Control Team, as well as the heads of relevant departments and colleges also came to visit the working staff and asked about how the vaccination went.
