On May 9, the finals of the 15th Fujian Provincial “Challenge Cup” concluded. This is a competition to promote innovation in social science, science and technology among college students. Huaqiao University (HQU) selected and recommended a total of 41 works to participate in this provincial competition, 14 of which entered the final round and won 1 grand prize, 5 first prizes, and 8 second prizes. Other awards are to be announced by the organizing committee. In the “Challenge Cup” patriotism event, Huaqiao University won 1 first prize, 2 second prizes and 2 third prizes. Our university has been awarded the “Excellent Organization Award” for its outstanding performance and effective organizing work.

The competition was jointly hosted by the Fujian Provincial Committee of the Communist Youth League, the Fujian Association for Science and Technology, the Education Department of Fujian Province, Fujian Academy of Social Sciences and Fujian Students’ Federation, and organized by Xiamen University Tan Kah Kee College and Zhangzhou Municipal Party Committee of the Communist Youth League.

Since its launch in March this year, the competition has received a total of 1,337 works from 55 colleges and universities in Fujian Province, a record number in terms of both participating universities and submitted works. After the evaluation and semi-finals, 104 works from 28 universities and colleges stood out and entered the finals, including 14 works from our university.

Among the award-winning works of our university, A Survey on Hong Kong Students’ Cognition of “One Country, Two Systems” in Mainland Universities - A Case Study of Universities in Fujian and Guangdong Provinces (Authors: Zou Jiarui, et al., Instructors: Cai Liqiang, Han Xu), the entry of the International School, won the grand prize. First prize winners include the Lightweight and Convenient Green Cement Warehouse Clearing System (Authors: Weng Rong et al., Instructors: Liu Hongsheng) from the College of Mechanical and Engineering Automation, Research on Perovskite Solar Cell Based on Interface Modification of TiO2 Electron Transport Layer (Authors: Zou Yu et al., Instructors: Sun Weihai, Zhang Mingqing) from the College of Materials Science and Engineering, Intelligent Auxiliary Thyroid Ultrasound Scanning System (Authors: Liu Yishan et al., Instructors: Du Yongzhao, Liu Peizhong) from the College of Engineering, Blockchain-based Supply Chain Financial Service Platform (Authors: Liu Qi, et al., Instructors: Guo Rongxin, Hu Xuesong) from the College of Information Science and Engineering, and Dilemma and Rebirth of the Interaction of the Worship of the Sages across the Taiwan Straits- A Case Study of Zheng Chenggong Culture (Authors: Hou Xinyi, et al., Instructors: Luo Wenwei, Xu Cui) from the Business School.
