On December 19, Computer Education Conference of China 2020 (CECC2020), co-organized by Huaqiao University (HQU), was held in Xiamen International Conference Center (XICC). It was jointly sponsored by the National Computer-related Majors Teaching Advisory Board under the Ministry of Education (MOE), National Software Engineering Teaching Advisory Board under the MOE, Ministry of Education’s Steering Committee of Cyber Science and Engineering in Higher Educational Institutions, and University Computer Course Teaching Steering Committee of the MOE.

Zhao Qinping, former Vice Minister of MOE and co-chairman of Steering Committee of the Conference and member of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Zhang Yaoxue, Co-chairman of Steering Committee of the Conference and member of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Wu Jianping, Co-chairman of Executive Committee of the Conference and member of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Wu Yan, Director of Department of Higher Education of Ministry of Education, Huang Xiaozhou, Vice Mayor of Xiamen City, and Wu Jianping, President of HQU attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. The opening ceremony was presided over by Zheng Qinghua, Co-chairman of Executive Committee of the Conference and Vice President of Xi'an Jiaotong University.

With New Changes, New Technologies, New Opportunities as the theme, the conference includes two main forums, 13 sub-forums on computer education and cutting-edge technologies, nearly 100 presentations and dozens of innovative application exhibitions. The conference also invited Turing Award winner Professor John Hopcroft and academicians in the field of computing, such as Zhao Qinping, Zhang Yaoxue, Wu Jianping, Shen Changxiang, Gao Wen, Wushour Slamu, Guan Xiaohong, Liao Xiangke and Wang Huaimin. They presented authoritative reports and shared cutting-edge trends and hot-button issues at the conference together with several other famous scholars from academia and enterprises. Centering on China’s computer education under new changes, new technologies, and new opportunities, they also developed in-depth exchanges, discussing about new ideas and practices on the development of computer education. In total, more than 100 leaders and experts from national computer fields of academy, education, industry, as well as more than 3,000 teachers and students from different universities have attended the conference.

More than 30 teachers and nearly 500 students from College of Computer Science and Technology and College of Engineering of HQU participated in the conference to expand their horizons and strengthen exchanges with experts in this field. In addition, more than 120 young volunteers from College of Computer Science and Technology helped with the preparation of the conference. Their positive working attitude have won the compliments from both the organizer and the participants.
