Caused by the COVID-19 epidemic, Huaqiao University (HQU) postponed the reopening of this spring semester. To implement the requirements of "nonstop teaching and learning" made by the Ministry of Education, HQU took measures ahead to ensure all work going on in an orderly manner, so as to minimize the epidemic impact on the work of teaching, student graduation and degree awarding, etc.

Until April 13, HQU opened 1,376 online courses for undergraduates, involving 1,497 teachers and 25,518 students, as well as 468 online courses for postgraduates with 433 teachers and 1,403 students involved. Since the start of online teaching, HQU has attached great importance to the quality of online teaching and adopted the form of "supervision from the university and the college" to supervise online teaching. University leaders, college heads and members of the university supervision team will randomly observe the online classroom. For the further improvement of online teaching quality, all colleges pay much attention to explore the typical practices and excellent cases in the teaching process, improve and optimize teaching methods, summarize and promote online teaching results.

At present, work like pre-auditing graduation qualifications, collecting image information and mid-term graduation thesis (design) inspection of the graduating class of 2020 is undergoing. The work arrangement of the thesis (Design) defense and degree awarding has been promoted following the requirements of "Guidance on the arrangement of teaching work and degree awarding for the graduating class of 2020", so that they all can have timely and successful graduation.

The application and awarding of Master and Doctoral students degrees are in order. 1,543 students have passed the thesis proposal online. 1,450 students have passed the qualification examination of academic papers, and 1,402 students have submitted their academic papers for review. The Graduate School carried on the repetition rate electronic examination before sending them to review, then made feedback of the results to the college, and urge the students to revise within a time limit. According to the epidemic situation and all work involved in degree application, HQU will determine the time and batch of holding the Academic Degree Evaluation Committee.
