On the evening of January 23^rd, 2020, the Chinese New Year’s Eve dinner was held respectively at Nanyuan Dining Hall (Quanzhou Campus) and Zijing the Second Canteen (Xiamen Campus) of Huaqiao University (HQU). HQU leaders Guan Yifan, Liu Gong, Peng Pei, Wang Xiuyong, Wang Lixia, and HQU former leaders Chen Juewan, Shi Yushan, Wu Daoming, Li Jimin, Wu Jihuai, and the Member of HQU Board of Directors Qiu Jianxin attended the dinner, celebrating the Chinese Lunar New Year with faculty and students home and abroad, including 538 international students from Malaysia, Thailand, Laos, Philippines, Indonesia, and Senegal.

Secretary of the Party Committee of HQU, Guan Yifan, and Vice President of HQU, Peng Pei, delivered a speech respectively on both campuses. They pointed out that 2019 was the year of HQU's development with extraordinary achievement. Under the leadership of the United Front Work Department (UFWD) of Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), HQU has carried on the stringent and effective education campaign on "staying true to our founding mission" and advanced the implementation of the Special Action Plan. They hoped that in the new year all the faculty and students will remain steadfast in our mission to push all work of the university onto a new stage welcoming the 60^th founding anniversary of HQU.

At the dinner, HQU leaders talked with students about their study and life on campus and gave the lucky money (also called Hongbao in Chinese signifying prosperity and happiness) to them. The students expressed their gratitude to the leaders, took photos in cheers and laughter and mentioned that they will share with their families and friends their happiness, conveying the best wishes for the new year.
