On the afternoon of January 13^th, Ho Hau Wah, Vice Chairman of Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and Honorary Chairman of Board of Directors of Huaqiao University (HQU), received HQU delegation led by President Xu Xipeng.

On behalf of HQU, Xu Xipeng extended New Year's blessings to Vice Chairman Ho Hau Wah, and reported a series of work and achievements made in the past one year, including personnel training, teaching and scientific research, and the re-election of the 8^th Board of Directors of HQU. Xu also expressed sincere thanks to Ho for his long-term care, support and encouragement for the construction and development of HQU. He said that HQU would seriously implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech on overseas Chinese’s higher education, make steady headway with Special Action Plan and in the guidance of co-construction of the United Front Work Department of CPC Central Committee, Ministry of Education and Fujian Province, and "Double First-Rate" disciplines construction, continuing to work hard to enroll Macao students and train talents thus making new contributions to the development of Macao. Xu said that a series of events are to be held to celebrate the 60th anniversary of HQU this year, and he invited Vice Chairman Ho to visit HQU at his availability. On behalf of the Board of Directors of HQU, Xu Xipeng presented a letter of appointment of honorary chairman to Ho Hau Wah.

Ho Hau Wah fully affirmed HQU's achievements in running and developing the school in recent years, and commended HQU and its Macao alumni for their contributions to the social development and "One country, Two systems" in Macao. He hopes that HQU will adhere to its original aspiration, further develop its characteristics as school for overseas Chinese and its discipline advantages, enhance exchanges and cooperation with the Macao SAR government and continue to innovate and improve talents training, thus making greater contributions in cultivating more outstanding talents for the Macao society and promoting more Macao Youths to better serve the Mainland and integrate into the construction of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Belt and Road, and into national development of China. Ho also asked Xu to forward his New Year’s greetings to all faculty, staff and students of HQU.

Tang Cuiying, first-class inspector from Bureau 10 of the United Front Work Department (UFWD) of CPC Central Committee, joined the meeting, too. She expressed her gratitude to Vice Chairman Ho Hau Wah for his long-term concern and support for the operation and development of HQU, and extended her New Year’s greetings and blessings to Ho.
