Ho Iat Seng, Chief Executive of Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR), received a delegation led by Xu Xipeng, President of Huaqiao University (HQU), in the Government Secretariat of Macao SAR on January 13^th.

Xu Xipeng, on behalf of HQU, extended his congratulations on Ho's inauguration, and his New Year's blessings to Ho. Xu also expressed heartfelt thanks to Macao government for their attention and support to Huaqiao University's development, including all education projects carried out in Macao. Xu reported on the history of HQU, and achievement in all aspects for the last year, especially talents provided by Huaqiao University for Macao. Xu stated that HQU is implementing the spirit of President Xi's speech on overseas Chinese higher education, making steady headway under the guidance of Special Action Plan and refining HQU's profile as an elite university that features in serving overseas Chinese, in order to make new progress comprehensively. Xu also invited Ho to inspect the university this year during the celebration of its 60^th anniversary.

Ho Iat Seng warmly welcomed Xu and his delegation and extended congratulations on HQU's achievements and the coming 60^th anniversary. He highly appreciated HQU's contributions to nurturing young talents who love the motherland and the homeland, and to promoting Macao's prosperity and development. Ho hoped that HQU would give full play to the advantage of an elite university for overseas Chinese and strengthen educational, cultural and other exchanges with Macao SAR Government and with all sectors of society. Thus it can produce more patriotic personnel for Macao and make greater contributions to "One Country, Two Systems" and the building of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Tang Cuiying, first-class inspector from Bureau 10 of the United Front Work Department (UFWD) of CPC Central Committee joined the meeting. Tang expressed her thanks to Macao SAR for its support in HQU's development and all work in Macao. She also sent Ho her New Year’s greetings and blessings.
