On January 9th, the Chinese New Year Meeting for Principals and Teachers of Hong Kong Middle Schoolswas jointly hosted by Huaqiao University (HQU) and the Chinese Middle Schools of Hong Kong (HK) to implement the guiding principles of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech during his visit to Jinan University (JNU) and the Special Action Plan, thus enhancing communication between HQU and the educational circles of HK.
Xu Xipeng, President of HQU and heads of relevant departments had a discussion with 38 principals and teachers from 16 middle schools as well as 9 young HK alumni and students of HQU.
This meeting, first time held in HK by HQU, is supposed to promote the reputation of HQU and improve its training mode for overseas students via face-to-face communication with the HK counterparts, thereby attracting more outstanding HK students to study in HQU and in return cultivating patriotic talents for the prosperity and stability of HK.
At present, HQU has about 1,600 students graduating from more than 200 HK middle schools, making it one of the mainland universities with the largest number of HK students. Since its establishment 60 years ago, over 8,000 HK alumni have been making contributions to the prosperity and stable development of HK in finance, education, architecture, civil engineering and civil servants, etc.
