On the afternoon of September 6th, participants of the 5th Asia-Pacific Young Scholars Workshop visited Huaqiao University (HQU).
The 5th Asia-Pacific Young Scholars Workshop was co-sponsored by the China National Committee of the Council for Security Cooperation in the Asia Pacific (CSCAP China) and China Institute of International Studies (CIIS). The participating scholars are from prestigious universities, important research institutions and diplomatic services of 13 countries, i.e., Russia, Thailand, Malaysia, Cambodia, Pakistan, Korea, Vietnam, Myanmar, Japan, the Philippines, Laos, Brunei and Singapore.
At Wang Yuanxing International Conference Center, scholars held discussions over how the 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road would promote infrastructure construction, economic and trade cooperation, fishery cooperation and polar cooperation.
After the meeting, they took a visit to the achievement exhibition of HQU serving the construction of the Maritime Silk Road and the Chinese Language and Culture College of HQU.
The Council for Security Cooperation in the Asia Pacific (CSCAP), founded in 1994, is organized for the purposes of providing a structured process for regional confidence building and security cooperation among countries and territories in the Asia Pacific region and policy recommendations to various inter-governmental bodies on political-security issues. It has 21 member committees: Aus CSCAP, CSCAP Brunei, CSCAP Cambodia, CSCAP Canada, CSCAP China, CSCAP EU, CSCAP India, CSCAP Indonesia, CSCAP Japan, CSCAP DPRK, CSCAP ROK, CSCAP Malaysia, CSCAP Mongolia, CSCAP Myanmar, CSCAP New Zealand, CSCAP Philippines, CSCAP Russia, CSCAP Singapore, CSCAP Thailand, US CSCAP and CSCAP Vietnam. CSCAP China Secretariat is located in CIIS, Beijing.
