On the afternoon of September 5^th, Huaqiao University (HQU) and Laos Prime Minister's Office signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to collaborate on Chinese language and culture education, research and academic exchange programmes. The MoU was signed by Xu Xipeng, President of HQU, and Komsan Saiyasane, Director of the Party and Personnel Department of Laos Prime Minister's Office.

Before the signing ceremony, the two sides held a discussion on cooperation matters. On behalf of HQU, Xu Xipeng warmly welcomed the delegation led by Komsan Saiyasane. He pointed out that Laos and China are friendly neighbors, and that the Foreign Government Officials' Chinese Class held by HQU has played a positive role in promoting friendly exchanges between the two countries. He mentioned that HQU has been committed to the internationalization in education, and will enhance communication and exchanges with Laos Prime Minister's Office to train personnel who are not only proficient in Chinese language but familiar with the politics, economy and culture of the two countries. He hopes to consolidate the cooperation results between the two sides and boost cooperation at more levels and fields through the MoU.

Komsan Saiyasane expressed his gratitude for the warm reception of HQU and affirmed the construction and development of the school in recent years. He said that the communication and exchanges between China and Laos have become closer and more frequent, and the cooperation has continued to expand and diversify. Showing his appreciation for HQU's concern and care for Lao students, Komsan Saiyasane hopes that Laos Prime Minister's Office and HQU will maintain friendly relations, enhance cooperation and exchanges, and promote common development.
