From July 21^st to 24^th, at the invitation of the Macao Alumni Association of Huaqiao University (HQU), 26 HQU excellent students went to Macao for an exchange visit. On the day of arrival, Chairman Lin Huilian , Director Yan Yiheng and Supervisor Wu Xiaoling of HQU’s Macao Alumni Association received the exchange group.

On July 22^nd, led by HQU Assistant to the President Zhang Yunbo, the exchange group visited the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao Special Administrative Region. Both sides had in-depth exchanges on how to jointly promote the education and training of Macao students in HQU. At the meeting, students also asked questions on the research topics of the coordinated development of higher education in Fujian and Macao, the development of Macao's cultural industry, and the cultural integration of youth in Macao and the Chinese Mainland. In the afternoon, the group went to the Hengqin campus of the University of Macao and visited the library.   

On July 23^rd, the group visited the Commemorative Gallery of the Macao Basic Law, the Administrative Committee of the Science and Technology Development Fund, the Macau Development Strategy Research Centre and the Macao Daily News, and on-the-spot teaching was conducted in Macao's historical and cultural blocks such as Lotus Square, Macao Tower and Ruins of St. Paul, through which students could have a thorough understanding of the past and present of Macao, and appreciate the unique charm of Macao in the multicultural communication.

At the summary meeting, group members shared their gains and feelings during the visit and jointly discussed measures to promote the communication and integration of HQU students from Macao and the Chinese mainland.

HQU’s excellent students exchange group to Macao is a cultural exchange project between Fujian Province and Macao, initiated and funded by HQU’s Macao Alumni Association, aiming at strengthening the ties between HQU students and alumni in Macao and deepening the students’ understanding of Macao. Since 2012, a total of 8 groups, 190-plus students have visited Macao for exchanges and has received sound response. Meanwhile, the project is also one of HQU's series of activities to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Macao's return to China in 2019. It also includes more than 10 other activities such as education and publicity of the Macao Basic Law, Macao Culture Week, art exhibition, internship of Macao students, and investigation of study and life conditions.
