Recently, the results for MCM (and ICM) 2019 were released. Through fierce competition, the team composed by Huaqiao University (HQU) students from Class of 2021, Chen Hang and Cao Ke, majoring in Information and Computing Science, and Ren Hongjin, majoring in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics from the School of Mathematical Sciences, won Meritorious Winner (first prize) of MCM. The team by students from Class of 2020, Yu Yuewen, majoring in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics, Tang Lijun, majoring in Computer Science and Technology, and Zeng Zijie, majoring in Network Engineering Program, won Honorable Mention (second prize) of ICM. This is the best result of HQU participating in this competition in recent years.

The 2019 Mathematical Contest in Modeling attracted 25,370 teams from China, the United States, Canada, Finland, the United Kingdom, Australia and other countries and regions, an increase of 4,732 teams compared with last year. Students from Harvard University, Princeton University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Tsinghua University, Peking University and other internationally renowned universities participated in the competition, among which the first prize win rate is only 0.068%, and the second prize 0.152%.
