On the morning of April 25^th, Xu Xipeng, President of Huaqiao University (HQU) met with the delegation from Phuketthaihua Asean Wittaya School, Thailand at Xiamen campus. The delegation was led by Mr. Sombat Atiset, President of Phuket Foundation (Lox Xian Kok) and Chairman of the board of Phuketthaihua Asean Wittaya School, Thailand. Leaders from HQU's Office of International Exchange and Cooperation, Department of Chinese Language and Culture Education, Admissions Office, Chinese Language and Culture College and College of Tourism were also present.

Xu indicated HQU has been closely collaborating with all sectors of Thailand for several years in cooperative school running, talent cultivation, academic exchange, etc. HQU and Phuketthaihua Asean Wittaya School are "old friends" with years of good cooperation. He hoped that both parties can enhance their collaboration in cultivating more talents for Thailand.

Mr. Sombat expressed his gratitude to HQU's support and assistance for Phuketthaihua Asean Wittaya School in campus construction and faculty development. He mentioned that the school had made a five-year development plan, aiming to send 50% high school graduates to colleges in China by 2022. He hoped that more Thai students would come to HQU to study Chinese language and culture, tourism, biomedical science, business and other related majors.

Both schools also had a discussion on HQU's enrollment of related majors, HQU students’ internship in Thailand, etc.

HQU has signed the cooperation agreement with Phuketthaihua Asean Wittaya School since November, 2010. In December, 2015, HQU's Admissions Office in Thailand was set up in Phuketthaihua Asean Wittaya School. In April, 2016, the Phuketthaihua Tourism Education Center was established. So far, Phuketthaihua Asean Wittaya School has been HQU's overseas base for Chinese language and culture education, involving itself in the admissions campaign, teaching practice and Chinese culture summer camp of HQU.
