2019 is the year for the education on national situation designed for overseas Chinese students in Huaqiao University (HQU). More than 120 students from the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and other nations including Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Brazil and Mongolia joined the Winter Camp of 2019 "China Culture Tour" in this winter holidays. During the 7-day trip, campers set their foot in Beijing, Hebei, Liaoning, Jilin, Heilongjiang, Guangdong, Guangxi and some other places to visit the natural and cultural heritage, and learn about Chinese history, culture and current national situations.

In order to implement the Spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's Speech at Jinan University, the Department of Student Affairs of HQU plans to organize a series of events concerning the education on national situation for students from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas in 2019, expanding the scope of country visits, and propelling study groups for "the Hometown Culture of Overseas Chinese", "the Maritime Silk Route Culture" and "Seeking the Footprints of General Secretary Xi Jinping". HQU will also hold field trips as "Visits to Masters' Hometowns", "Visits to A Hundred Villages" and the Summer (Winter) Camp of "China Culture Tour”, launch the New Youth Program "China Potentials" targeting field trips and students’ leadership coaching sessions on "Chinese Road, Chinese System, Chinese Speed, Chinese Image, Chinese Style, Chinese Spirit", and initiate the cultural emissary plan --- "Hearing the Ingenuity" enabling overseas Chinese students to interview the inheritors of intangible cultural heritage, along with a series of learning activities.

HQU welcomes and encourages more overseas Chinese students to participate in all kinds of the education on national situation activities. It will further develop "My Chinese Heart", a project for overseas Chinese students from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and other regions and countries to learn by practicing, and will work to take the lead as one of the first excellent projects of Ideological and Political Education of Chinese Universities. The university will also perfect the construction of optional course titled China Culture Tour, push on the construction of the excellent projects of "Ideological and Political Theory Teaching in All Courses" in Fujian province, realize the integration of educating people by both practice and courses, gild its title as overseas Chinese university, and probe into the model of national education combining "Cognition, Emotion, Willingness and Practice" for overseas Chinese students.
