The 13th Chinese-Thai Strategic Research Seminar, co-hosted by Huaqiao University (HQU) and the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT), took place on Nov 12–13, 2024 in Chonburi, Thailand, under the theme “Strategic Partnership to Jointly Build a Sustainable Community”. The opening ceremony was attended by distinguished guests including Dr. Wiparat De-ong, Deputy Executive Director of National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT); Prof. Lin Hongyu, Vice President of HQU; Li Jijuan, counselor of Chinese Embassy in Thailand; Suthipong Jimidapa, Chairman of Thailand Science, Research and Innovation Promotion Committee, and Prof. Fan Hongwei, Dean of the Center for Southeast Asian Studies at Xiamen University.
The two-day seminar brought together over 80 experts and academics from Chinese and Thailand universities, think tanks and industries to engage in in-depth discussions on topics including AI development and digital green transformation, transportation and preservation of agricultural products in China-Thailand and China-ASEAN logistics, and ASEAN regional trade and economic promotion within the framework on the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road Initiative. The conference aimed to build consensus and develop practical recommendations for strengthening China-Thailand, and China-ASEAN partnership.
The annual China-Thailand Strategic Research Seminar isa landmark achievement of the comprehensive cooperation between HQU and NRCT. Since its launch in 2012, the seminar has been held for 13 consecutive years, establishing itself as an important platform for academic exchanges between the two countries. The 14th seminar will be hosted at HQU next year.
