Huaqiao University, as the rotating chair of the Xiamen Marine Emerging Industry Innovation Alliance, engaged deeply in activities of the annual East Asian Seas (EAS) Congress and World Ocean Week (WOW) held on 6-12 November 2024 in Xiamen, China.

At the 7th International Diving Salvage and Marine Engineering Equipment Exhibition held on 8 to 10 November at Xiamen International Conference & Exhibition Center, Huaqiao University showcased its technological innovations in five key areas: high-end marine equipment, marine civil engineering, intelligent ocean monitoring, marine eco-environmental protection, and marine biomaterial-based applications.

On the morning of November 9, HQU Vice President Gou Jin addressed at the 2024 Investment Promotion Alliance representing the rotating chair. He outlined the alliance’s goals and emphasized the commitment to fostering the high-quality development of Xiamen’s marine economy. At the signing ceremony, the university’s College of Civil Engineering partnered with China Communications Construction Sixth Engineering Co., Ltd (Xiamen) to establish a “Marine Engineering and High-End Equipment Research and Development Center.” HQU also presented innovations, including the “Industrial Applications of Microbial Agents and Enzymes Based on Microecological Regulation.” Representatives from the university’s Research Institute, the schools and colleges of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and the Institute of Manufacturing Engineering participated in the event.

In recent years, Huaqiao University has established technology innovation teams in the aforementioned fields, achieving notable results, including an innovation center of advanced manufacturing and materials joining with China-Ukraine Institute of Welding, Guangdong Academy of Sciences and multiple provincial and municipal science and technology awards. Several experts have also been acknowledged as the inaugural 30 marine industry talents in Xiamen.
