On Sep 16, Huaqiao University (HQU) held a symposium on Chinese modernization and new development of world socialism at Xiamen Campus, featuring a diverse group of over 70 attendees, including 24 leaders of communist parties, Marxist researchers and left-wing social activists from 14 countries such as Spain, Italy, Germany, Cuba and Brazil, as well as experts and academics from Academy of Marxism, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and teachers and students from HQU School of Marxism. The meeting was hosted by HQU Vice President Wang Lixia.
In his remarks, HQU President Wu Jianping said that Chinese modernization provides a Chinese solution to promote the development of world socialism in the new era and aid the exploration of a better social system for humanity. He encouraged participants to hold profound discussions, leveraging the achievements of Chinese modernization, and work together to advance the world socialism development, paving the way for a promising future for a community with a shared future for mankind.
During his address, Yu Haiqing, Vice President of Academy of Marxism, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences presented a comprehensive examination of Chinese modernization from four perspectives, and invited attendees to engage in further open discussion, enhance mutual understanding, inspire intellectual exchanges, and seek academic insights.
In the exchange session of the symposium, Antonio Segura, Vice President of the Foundation of Cátedra China of Spain, Professor Jean-Paul Vargas from the Central American Institute of Public Administration of Costa Rica, and Lin Huaiyi and Liu Weiwei, professors from HQU School of Marxism delivered keynote speeches on the themes of “Decoding Socialist China: the mission and vision of Cátedra China”, “advancing Chinese modernization”, “Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a new era: the creation of the principle of scientific socialism”, and “International communist parties’ vision for Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a new era: key perspectives and practical applications”. The experts and academics in attendance participated in dynamic and interactive exchanges, sharing their knowledge and perspectives on related topics.
On the same day, domestic and international participants paid a visit to HQU History Museum and an exhibition of Maritime Silk Road (MSR) culture, learning about the school’s evolution and growth over the years and exploring its distinctive traits and attributes.
