Prof. Cheng Guolin’s team from Huaqiao University (HQU)’s College of Materials Science & Engineering has made significant progress in the divergent construction of chiral pentavalent phosphorus molecules. Their research paper titled “Solvent-Controlled Enantiodivergent Construction of P(V)-Stereogenic Molecules via Palladium-Catalyzed Annulation of Prochiral N-Aryl Phosphonamides with Aromatic Iodides” was published in Angewandte Chemie. First author Tian Qingyu is a doctoral student from the College of Materials Science & Engineering. Prof. Cheng Guolin is the corresponding author, with HQU as the first affiliation.
The research team has long been committed to the study of Catellani reaction. Based on previous studies, they have developed a solvent-controlledpalladium/chiral norbornene(NBE) - catalyzed cyclization of aryl iodides with phosphoramide, providing a wide range of applications for both aryl iodide and phosphoramide substrates and enantioselective access to enantiomers of chiral P(V) molecules utilizing a single chiral NBE catalyst.
Founded in 1887, Angewandte Chemie is a journal of the German Chemical Society (GDCh). It is one of the prime chemistry journals in the world.
