On June 26th, a delegation from Huaqiao University (HQU) visited China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA) and met with CIDCA Chairman Luo Zhaohui.

Luo commended HQU for its strategic approach in engaging in international cooperation through its network of overseas Chinese connections and for its success in nurturing global talent. Luo expressed his hope that HQU would maximize its geographical advantage, being situated in the core area of the Maritime Silk Road in Fujian Province, along with its wealth of overseas Chinese connections. He encouraged HQU to implement the Global Development Initiative (GDI) and take on more national human resources training programs designed for international aid efforts. He also proposed that HQU establish a distinguished presence within the Belt and Road Initiative framework to meet the needs of international cooperation. Luo noted that CIDCA would support HQU in enhancing its role in international cooperation and jointly promote the high-quality development of China’s foreign aid endeavors.

Xu Xipeng, Party Secretary of HQU, expressed his gratitude to CIDCA for its long-term care and support for HQU, and provided an update on the university’s adherence to General Secretary Xi Jinping’s directives in recent years. Xu said that HQU would continue to harness its academic strengths, expertise in global talent commitment, and language service capabilities with guidance from CIDCA. He also expressed HQU’s willingness toparticipate in more foreign aid cooperation projects, and contribute more to supporting national strategies and international development partnerships.

The two sides also exchanged views on foreign aid human resources training, foreign aid language services, and global development youth projects.

Relevant officials from CIDCA’s Department of International Cooperation and the Global Development Promotion Center, as well as leaders from HQU Chinese Language and Culture College and the Preparatory Education College, attended the meeting.
