A case study on the innovation and practice of overseas Chinese youth telling well China’s stories by the new media studio of Huaqiao University (HQU), “Voice of Overseas Students” achieves Outstanding Award in the category of International Communication Opinion Leaders in the “Best Practices inInternational Communication Cases Connecting with Gen Z”. The case study collection and evaluation program was launched by Huanqiu.com, Tsinghua-Epstein Center for Global Media and Communication (CGMC), the News Center of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission and China Youth Daily, and received joint support from the General Office of People’s Daily and the Think Tank Research Center of Tsinghua University.
Themed “Engaging with Gen Z in the most trendy ways”, the program of this year set five categories of awards including major national strategies, international communication opinion leaders, promoting Chinese culture, enhancing city image and brand communication. It invited submissions of international communication cases connecting with Gen Z, with the aim of showcasing successful cases on telling China’s stories well to global juveniles for media colleagues and friends from all walks of life, and opening up a new path for improving international communication to present a true, multi-dimensional and panoramic view of China.
Since its launch, the event has garnered widespread attention, attracting participation from official organizations, media, enterprises, universities and individuals. The submissions spanned a variety of integrated media products such as planned series reports, short video programs, micro-documentaries, digital game products, as well as public forums, competitions, and exchanges. Expert panels from media industry and academia have assessed them based on three dimensions: issues, content and format, and communication effectiveness. After careful evaluation, the panel selected 35 cases as exemplars to be awarded across categories like Top 10 International Communication Case Study, Outstanding Case Study on National Strategies, Outstanding Case Study on Promoting Chinese Culture.
