HQU Students Win Prizes in the 15th CMC

On April 20th, the finals of the 15th Chinese Mathematics Competitions for College Students (CMC) were held at Shandong University. Zhou Yunhao and Huang Renqiang from Huaqiao University (HQU) stood out in fierce competitions and both won the second prize.

This edition has attracted 288,355 contestants from 1,108 universities in 32 divisions across the country. After preliminaries and semi-finals, more than 1,100 contestants made it to the finals.

Zhou Yunhao, a third-year student from the School of Mathematical Sciences, won the second prize among other senior Mathematics majors, and Huang Renqiang, a senior student from the College of Materials Science and Engineering, won the second prize in the non mathematics major group.

The CMC, sponsored by the Chinese Mathematical Society, an authoritative academic institution, is a top-level national mathematics competition for undergraduates. It aims to promote the quality of talent cultivation in higher education in China, and deepen the curriculum building and teaching reform of mathematics. It is dedicated to sparking students’ interest in learning mathematics, as well as discovering and nurturing mathematics talents. Today, CMC has become one of the most influential subject competitions in China, attracting over 1.5 million college students to participate so far.
