The finals of the 18th National University Students Intelligent Car Race commenced from 17th to 19th August at Tiangong University.
Six teams from Huaqiao University’s College of Information Science and Engineering excelled in the South China Division competition and advanced to the national finals. Following intense competition, these students achieved remarkable success, securing five national first prizes and one national second prize, marking a new record high in HQU.
This competition encompasses both the sub-regional trials and national finals. Starting from July, team selections for the finals have been conducted across five sub-regions (Northeast China, North China, East China, South China, and West China), as well as three provincial regions (Anhui, Shandong, and Zhejiang). This initiative has garnered participation from an impressive total of 3,138 teams comprising over 10,000 college students nationwide. Consequently, 504 teams emerged as finalists, showcasing the remarkable scale and competitiveness of the event.
The National University Students Intelligent Car Race, commissioned by the Department of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education (MOE), has been under the auspices of the Steering Committee for Guidance in Teaching Automation in Higher Education Institutions under the MOE since 2005. Focusing on intelligent cars, the competition has received official approval from the MOE and it is recognized as one of the science and technology humanities competitions funded by the National Teaching Quality and Teaching Reform Project. Additionally, it has earned distinction as one of the disciplinary competitions included in the "Cultivation of Innovative Talents in Chinese Universities & Discipline Competition Evaluation Results" by the China Association of Higher Education (CAHE) in 2023.
