On the morning of October 28, the 45th Sports Meeting of Huaqiao University (Quanzhou Campus) began with opening ceremony held in the West District track and field. More than 800 students and staff athletes will compete in 19 track and field events in the following two days, including hurdles, relays, distance running, sprints, high jump, long jump and shot put.

At the opening ceremony, 15 delegations from colleges, administration, logistics, and labor unions marched into the stadium with neat steps. Spirited teachers and students dressed in costumes put on performances that highlighted the vigorous, enterprising and positive spirit of HQUers.

520 students performed group callisthenics and waved flags to play a youthful rhythm, conveying vitality and hope. The powerful and lifelike dragon dancing greatly improved the morale for competitors.

Competitions began in an orderly manner after the opening ceremony. The closing ceremony will be held on the afternoon of October 29.
