On the evening of May 14th, Huaqiao University (HQU) and Xiamen People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (XMPAFFC) formally co-launched the third session of the Friendly Cultural Exchange Program. The webinar attracted 342 government officials, college teachers and students from 9 countries, i.e., Indonesia, the UK, the Philippines, Japan, Cambodia, Malaysia, Kenya, New Zealand and Thailand.
The current session will adopt the “Internet plus people-to-people exchanges” model. Through six online interactive lectures, experts and scholars from Fudan University (FDU), Xiamen University (XMU), Huaqiao University (HQU) and Quanzhou World Heritage Application Office will introduce a multi-dimensional China in English to participants from the sister cities of Xiamen and the sister universities of HQU on Chinese e-commerce, marine ecological civilization, World Heritage protection, attractive Chinese language and Xiamen landscape immersion.
The program was strongly supported and promoted by Chinese embassies in Cambodia, Malaysia, and the Philippines as well as Chinese consulate generals in Penang and Surabaya, who also sent representatives to the launching ceremony on May 14th.
So far, 3 sessions of the exchange program have been held, involving nearly 600 participants from 14 countries and regions.The number of people attending this session hit a record high. In addition to the enthusiastic participation from Xiamen’s international sister cities, the event also attracts groups of participants from 23 sister universities of HQU, including Bina Nusantara University of Indonesia, University of Nairobi of Kenya, University of Nagasaki of Japan, and Ateneo De Davao University of the Philippines.
