The “Chinese Culture Paradise” Asian Park (the 6thsession) was held online as scheduled on the afternoon of May 18, 2022. 316 ethnic Chinese teenagers from the Philippines and Brunei participated in the event.
The current session is hosted by China Overseas Friendship Association, held by Huaqiao University, and jointly organized by the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FFCCII), the Association of Chinese-Filipino Schools in the Philippines, Brunei Chung Hwa Middle School, Brunei Chung Ching Middle School, and Chung Hua Middle School Kuala Belait.
The 12-day event will include live and recorded courses and Wechat class discussions. With elaborate preparation in the past 3 months, HQU has selected 22 outstanding teachers to offer 18 traditional Chinese talent courses, including Chinese martial arts, music, dance, calligraphy, traditional Chinese painting, andGuankou(a kind of comic monologue). Students will also learn about Chinese tea and Chinese cooking. New courses such as Chinese Intangible Cultural Heritage: Puppet Skills, and Taking Family Photos for the Earth -- Broadening World Outlooks with Maps, are also provided to add more hands-on experience and increase learning enjoyment.
Lin Hongyu, Vice President of Huaqiao University, Yu Hong, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Chinese Embassy in Brunei, Xiong Sheng, Education Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in the Philippines, Judy Tan, Chair of the Association of Chinese-Filipino Schools in the Philippines, Ong Tiong Oh, Chairman of Brunei Chung Hwa Middle School, Chin Kim Min, Chairman of Brunei Chung Ching Middle School, principals and teachers of 37 Chinese schools in the Philippines and Brunei, 316 students, as well as leaders, teachers, and staff of the Office of Chinese International Education of HQU attended the opening ceremony.

Huaqiao University has undertaken the “Chinese Culture Paradise” since 2006, holding 11 sessions in 14 Chinese schools in 12 cities in the Philippines, 6 sessions in 6 Chinese schools in 3 cities in Thailand and 5 sessions in Los Angeles. Nearly 8,000 people have participated in the on-site training. In 2021, another 822 students from 9 countries, i.e., Brazil, Argentina, Peru, Chile, Bolivia, the United Kingdom, Portugal, France and Italy participated in the South-American Park and the British-Portuguese Park switched online due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
