Upon the arrival of International Youth Day (May 4th), HQU new media studio, “Voice of Overseas Students”, shot a featured video entitled “Chinese Youth in the Eyes of Overseas Students”. Young international students from Zambia, South Africa, the Philippines, Turkmenistan, Ireland and other countries, shared their impressions of Chinese youth with global netizens and expressed their determination to build a community with a shared future for mankind.

Charlette from Zambia was impressed by the spirit of “solidarity, cooperation and resilience” of Chinese youth. “During the COVID-19 outbreak, many Chinese students around me did not hesitate to sign up as volunteers for epidemic prevention and control, and did their best to help and encourage people around them. Not only did I see their care for each other, but their love and responsibility for the country.”

Khian Dee from the Philippines, once visited Changting, Ruijin, Shaxian and many other counties, interviewed many Chinese youth who impressed him with selfless dedication and down-to-earth personality traits. “Many Chinese youth went to the countryside without hesitation to help the locals to achieve poverty alleviation and make a better living regardless of hardships, instead of staying in metropolis for greater career opportunities. I admire them a lot.”

“I really enjoy being with my Chinese friends, who make me know more about China!” Sarah from South Africa was deeply impressed with the active promotion of Chinese culture by young Chinese. “They are friendly to me and always introduce Chinese food and communication culture to me. Thanks for their companionship, I like China even more!”

Mahriban from Turkmenistan, has been paying great attention to the emerging youth role models. “I have read many stories of Chinese youth who are constantly striving for self-improvement. Even facing difficulties and misfortunes, they never give up and still chase their dreams constantly. They are role models for all youth.”

“The serious attitude and dedication to problem-solving of Chinese youth are very attractive and worth learning from.” Peter from Ireland expressed his best wishes to the Chinese youth. “I wish all Chinese youth can be courageous to achieve ambitions despite of all difficulties! Happy Youth Day!”
