On April 25, UNWTO TedQual Certification Committee sent a letter to Huaqiao University (HQU), verifying the certification score of four undergraduate programmes in College of Tourism to be 803 (completing 95.03% out of the full score 845). The four undergraduate programmes, Tourism Management, Hotel Management, Exhibition Economy and Management as well as Human Geography and Urban-rural Planning thus obtained a four-year certification, the highest level of its kind and the best result that domestic tourism colleges have ever attained in their first application.

UNWTO TedQual Certification System (UNWTO.TedQual), founded in 1998, aims to improve the quality of global tourism education, training and research programmes and to promote tourism ethics around the world. The certification system plays a key role in evaluating and improving the teaching and management of tourism colleges, and it is authoritative in measuring the quality control, procedure standardization, effectiveness of the pedagogical system as well as international vision of tourism education. Obtaining the UNWTO TedQual certification has become an important evaluation criteria for any world-class tourism college.
