On December 23^rd, the closing ceremony of the 1st Chinese Language Training Program for Mindanao Government Officials (Davao City) was held online. Wu Jianping, President of Huaqiao University (HQU), Li Lin, Chinese Consul General in Davao City, Pilar Braga, Davao City councilor and chair of City Council Education Committee, and Tabora, President of Ateneo de Davao University delivered their speeches respectively. Sara Duterte, mayor of Davao City, sent a video message of congratulations to the event. Zeng Lu, HQU Vice President presided over the ceremony. In addition, heads from HQU Office of International Chinese Language Education and Office of International Exchange and Cooperation attended the ceremony.

The training program was co-hosted by HQU and the city government of Davao, and organized by HQU Office of International Chinese Language Education and Confucius Institute in Ateneo de Davao University. The 21 officials in this class are from eight government agencies of Davao City in class, including Mayor’s office, City Administrator’s Office, City Tourism Operations Office, Human Resource Management Office, Public Safety Security Command Center and so on. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the training class was offered online.
