Recently, the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) has announced the evaluation results of the projects of Regional Innovation and Development Joint Fund (hereinafter referred to as the RIDJF) and Research Fund for International Scientists (RIFS). HQU professors Wei Zhanhua from Institute of Luminescent Materials and Information Displays and Zhan Guowu from College of Chemical Engineering received one RIDJF grant each, totaling 5.2 million yuan. With the 2 RIDJF grants, HQU ranks 3rdamong Fujian universities. In addition, Professor Philipp Kapranov from School of Medicine was awarded a 1.6 million yuan RIFS grant, marking the first approved RIFS of HQU.
With the completed 2021 NSFC project review, 34 HQU projects have received research funding from NSFC with a total of 25 million yuan, including 19 General Projects and 12 Young Scientists Fund Projects (including RFIS), with the approval rates of 15.45% and 16.67% respectively. These projects cover 7 disciplines: 13 in Engineering and Materials Science, 7 in Mathematical Science, 5 in Life Science, 4 in Chemical Science, 3 in Management Science, 1 in Information Science and 1 in Earth Science.
