Since 2016, HQU and SUC have jointly held International Seminars on “the Belt and Road: Maritime Silk Road” on a regular basis in order to promote the exchanges and cooperation between China and Malaysia, and join hands to build a “21st Century Maritime Silk Road”.

The seminar is annually held at the two universities in turn, attracting a large number of dignitaries, experts, scholars and business elites to attend and have discussions on China-Malaysia relations, economic and trade cooperation, education and cultural exchanges, etc. It has exerted extensive influence in China and Malaysia as an important platform for in-depth exchanges and practical cooperation between think tanks of the two countries.

In recent years, the cooperation between HQU and Malaysia has reached a new level. HQU set up a representative office in Malaysia and established overseas admissions offices with local overseas Chinese communities and Chinese schools. Malaysia also supported its officials, scholars and overseas Chinese leaders to visit HQU. Both sides worked hand in hand to cultivate more talents to serve “the Belt and Road”.
