On November 16th,The Story of Drums, a theatrical film produced by Huaqiao University (HQU), was shortlisted for the 13thMacau International Movie Festival after being selected by the jury.
The Story of Drumsis an inspirational film created by teachers and students of School of Journalism and Communication of HQU. It is produced by Wang Guiting, the Deputy Dean, and directed by Li Xinbai, a graduate tutor and director. Written by postgraduates Yang Chuanting, Chen Yuxin, Lin Yijia and Hu Naixin, the film features undergraduates Zhang Han, Zhang Chen, Chen Caoyu, Liu Yanlin and Jin Lingqian, as well as some teachers, including Ni Hongtao, Suo Yanhua, Lian Ziqiang and Shi Xiaohu. The entire filming also involved students of Grade 2017.
The film follows the experience and growth of a group of college students in the school team of 24 Festive Drums, a performance created by Malaysian Chinese and well developed in HQU. The leading role recaptured his dream of playing the drums and had a romantic encounter in the drum team. The movie shows the youthful vigor and high spirits of contemporary college students .
Macau International Movie Festival is an international film festival founded by Movie-Television-Media Association of Macau and China International Culture Communication Center in 2009. It aims to strengthen international exchanges and cooperation, introduce film and television newcomers and promote copyright trade. Films likeHi, Mom,Swimming Out Till the Sea Turns Bluewere also shortlisted for this edition.
