On November 17th, Huaqiao University (HQU) held an international conference on "BRICS Cooperation, Global Governance and Mutual Learning among Civilizations" to mark the first anniversary of President Xi Jinping's proposal for establishing The BRICS Partnership on New Industrial Revolution Innovation Center in Xiamen. Thirty-five experts and scholars from 12 countries, including China, the United States, Russia, Japan, India, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Greece, Pakistan, Brazil, Argentina and Malaysia, participated in the online seminar. Yu Hongjun, former Vice Minister of International Department of the CPC CentralCommittee, Xu Bu,Deanof China Institute of International Studies, and Huang Xiaozhou, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Xiamen Committeeand Vice Mayor of Xiamen, attended the opening ceremony. The head of College of International Relations of HQU presided over the meeting.

The seminar focused on the four topics, namely, "BRICS Cooperation and Global Governance", "BRICS Cooperation and Cultural Exchange", "BRICS Cooperation and Major-power Relationship", and “TheRelationship between Global Governance and Mutual Learningamong Civilizations". The experts analyzed the opportunities and challenges of BRICS cooperation in global governance and mutual learning among civilizations from different perspectives, and discussed the future cooperation mode and development trend of BRICS countries and global governance. They also explored the development patterns of world politics and economics through active and friendly exchanges to provide intellectual support for the future development of BRICS cooperation.
