The brain is one of the most complex organs in the human body, and the cerebral cortex alone contains about 14 billion neurons. How billions of neuronspreciselygenerate and form complex neural circuits during human embryonicdevelopment has long been a hot topic in the scientific community.

On November 4th, Prof. Sun Tao and his team from the Center for Precision Medicine and School of Medicine of Huaqiao University (HQU) published the paper entitledInterneuron Origin and Molecular Diversity in the Human Fetal Brainonline inNature Neuroscience(impact factor 24.88), which systematically deciphers origin and diversity of interneurons in the human fetal subpallium. .

Graduate student Yu Yuan and PhD student Zeng Zhiwei from School of Medicine of HQU are co-first authors with Professor Sun Tao as the sole corresponding author.
