On October 26th, 2021, Huaqiao University (HQU) awarded Tanoto Belt and Road Scholarship for the first time to 29 international students from Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Myanmar, Laos and Sri Lanka.
The full scholarship aims to maximize the advantages of HQU as a school that enroll overseas Chinese students by drawing on resources of Tanoto Foundation, to cultivate talent for the Maritime Silk Road, and to attract outstanding overseas Chinese students from countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative to study in China.
The awarding ceremony was held via video conference. Wu Wei, Secretary General of Tanoto Foundation in Beijing, Wang Xiuyong, HQU’s Vice President, and leaders from relevant units including Department of Student Affairs, Office of Board of Directors, Admissions Office, Office of Educational Administration, College of Tourism, Maritime Silk Road Institute, and Business School attended the ceremony.
