Recently, the results of the Finals of the 16th NationalUniversityStudents Intelligent Car Race were announced, and the teams from School of Information Science and Engineering of Huaqiao University (HQU) won two second prizes. The team of Zheng Yingyao, Wu Qizhen and Zhang Renzhongzheng (instructor: Tang Mao) won the second prize in the intelligent vision category, and the team of Jiang Shifan, Wu Jie and Ye Jiyuan (instructor: Tang Mao) won another second prize in the electromagnetic off-road category.
Affected by COVID-19, the finals were held online, and 593 teams from 256 universities nationwide participated in the competition.Two teams from School of Information Science and Engineering of HQU entered the finals. They made careful preparations for the competition despite the impact of the epidemic, and their efforts and perseverance finally paid off. In the previous competition in South China division, HQU teams had won two first prizes and three third prizes.
The National University Students Intelligent Car Race, entrustedby the Department of Higher Education of Ministry of Education, is a national top-level event sponsoredbyChinese Association of Automation. Under the guiding philosophy of "to train, to participate, to explore and to excel", the race this year includes the racing category and the creative category, covering a number of disciplines such as cybernetics, pattern recognition, sensortechnology, electron, electric, computer, mechanics, communications, and automotive engineering. It serves as a good platform to engage college students in engineering technology research and development, andtofoster their innovation ability and team spirit.
